Doll sized skirt

I offered to test the Mini Floreala pattern seeing as DD loves her big Floreala.
Of course the fly in this ointment is that DD and DS don't really have any dolls to test the finished product on.  Lots of teddies and soft toys, just not really anything dolly like.
Still, I figured I could find something so I gave it a go.

I did find someone to try it on!  She is/was mine and back when she worked she had a record inside of her (that you could change) and said various things.  Records long gone and I'm not even sure if she would work now.  [And just an aside, the only clothes I have for her are a pair of pjs my Granny made!].

She is very tall 23-24 inches, so it's quite a long skirt.
(Not my colours but DD has unique taste and along the bottom is a gold metallic thread that she loves.)

We tried it on Ruby the Build a Bear Bunny, but it's more mu-mu like on her.
The pattern was quick and simple and would be a good way to practise before you make the big skirt.

Coconut Ice - Cerise flavoured!

When I saw this little skirt pattern on Ravelry I couldn't wait until it was released, so much so that I was the first person to buy one! It's creator is a local designer which made it all the more enticing too.
Little Miss 6 loves skirts.
She did have concerns that it would be see through and everyone would see her undies, so I made sure the top part was firm - actually I got gauge using a 4.0mm hook and worsted weight yarn, I must crochet loosely.
But then I wanted to have it a bit swirly and twirly at the bottom. I knew it would never be too twirly, but Little Miss loves twirly so I thought I'd see what I could do to help the 'yes I'll wear it' factor.
I increased hook size to 4.5mm and then finally 5.0mm for the last couple of rows and hem.
You can't really tell, but it does have slight flaring to the shape when flat.
Little Miss wanted stripes and pink and all sorts of things in the skirt but I didn't have pink in this cotton (Yarn Bee from Spotlight that I got on special for about $1 a ball), I had this cerise and a pale aqua that seemed to go nicely together. (The cerise is cotton/acrylic and a joy to use, the aqua is cotton/soy and not a joy to use.)
It fits her really well.
That's a model pose, in case you couldn't work it out.
And she likes the non-scratchy softness of the cotton/acrylic.
I want to make a skirt for me, I love it.
I have just made a little top to go with it, will post some photos once I've sewed the ends in and got her to pose again.
She wants to wear the whole outfit to her Uncle's wedding, which I think is lovely as often when I make things for her she doesn't want to put them on even though she's loved them while I'm making them.

A little Cardi - finished!

I made Little Miss this cardigan (you need to be a member to get the pattern, but it's free and worth it).
It was quick and easy and if I'd paid attention it would have taken me only 2 nights.
The yarn is an acrylic, but Little Miss doesn't like anything scratchy.
I lengthened the body and made the 6-7 size.

I'm going to make more - they are quick and easy and Little Miss often complains of being a little bit cold, so they are just like little hugs for her shoulders and back.
She likes the big flowers on it, but on the next one I might try something a little more exciting.

A matching hat

Being that it's cold down at The Farm and we're due to head down in a week and a half, in the middle of winter, I thought I'd better make some hats.

Here is the first.
It's a matching for the stripey vest.
Unfortunately he won't wear it. It's more fun to pull your hat off than leave it on.
Maybe when his ears are so cold they're about to freeze and fall of he might like it a bit more.

His sister likes it so I asked her to model it.
She told me that she was sick of smiling and so would look like this.
I suddenly flashed forward to her teenage years. *shudder*

And here she is trying hard not to smile and seeing as her face is a naturally smiley one it is much more effort to pull a bored face.
The only way I've found to keep her quiet.
